About Ms. Myrick

Who Am I?

Born and raised just minutes from Douglass High School, I am an ATLien through and through. I love this city and Atlanta Public Schools. After graduating from Washington High, I went to the University of Georgia and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I love writing and how it helps communicate further than the voice can reach sometimes.

I wholeheartedly believe that it is my duty to support building the confidence and competence of every scholar who will then use what they learn in the Astro classrooms and halls in order to positively contribute to their community and society as a whole. Everyone must work together to pour everything into scholars, so they can do the same for the next generation.

One of my favorite educational quotes comes from Malcolm X who said, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." Everything in every class since you started PreK or Kindergarten may not directly show up every day, but everything builds to help open more of the world to you. I hope this school year can show you how. Reading and writing is power. It is freedom, and it is life! Let's open another part of the world around us together!
